8-Team | 4-Game Playoff Format


3-week, 2 Division Round Robin Tournament leading to a Championship Night during week 4. Divisions are set up based on regular season standings.
Division A - #1, #4, #5, #8
Division B - #2, #3, #6, #7

Each team will have 1 – 30 second time out. The clock will be stopped during this time. The game can end in a tie.

Championship Night:
​​​​​​​Games - A#1 vs B#1 (for Championship), A#2 vs B#2, A#3 vs B#3, A#4 vs B#4

Championship Game:
Each team will have a 1 – 30 second time out. The clock will be stopped during this time.
In the event of a tie, a five-minute sudden-death overtime period will be played.
If still tied after 3 periods and overtime, the game will go to a shootout. Each team will take 3 shots. If the game is still tied after 3 shots, the game will go to a sudden-death shootout. Each team will take 1 shot until one team scores and the other does not. 
Every player must shoot before someone can shoot for a second time. 

Short Handed:
•    No subs unless approved by the Exec team or opposing GM. We will only allow subs if you have fewer than 9 players. 
•    Goalies will be replaced with appropriate-level goalies.

Playoff Matchup (seeding) Rules (Regular Season Standings)
1. Overall wins (wins x 2 points)
2. Head to Head wins (Record between two teams in the regular season)
3. Most Goals For
5. Least Goals Against
6. If still tied, Coin Flip​​​​​​​

Tie Breaks:
If two or more teams are tied after the Round Robin Tournament, the GHL will use the following metrics to determine the final rankings.

1. Points in Round Robin Tournament (Win = 2 points / Tie = 1 point)
2. Head-to-Head Wins (tied Team A beat tied Team B in Round Robin Tournament)
3. Highest Goals For With Cap (+3 goal cap per game, eliminates the need to run up the score needlessly. For Example – if you win 6-1 the formula it will only count as 4-1)
