The GHL is a co-ed non-contact hockey league aimed at adults who have had little or no childhood hockey experience. The league is also known in the region by the moniker as 'Hockey for Dummies'. In winter we have 2 levels (minor and major) to make it an even playing field for all involved.

167 Players Drafted....Season Ready to Start
by posted 09/01/2010

The turning of the calendar to September can only mean one thing in the GHL world... winter hockey is just around the corner.

This past Sunday (Aug 29th), saw 167 players drafted to 6 minor teams and 6 major teams. The league is very excited that it has grown by 2 minor teams this year. Click here for the rosters.

Held at the Virgil Complex, the draft bbq was exciting from the very first pick (Al Thompson to the Hawks) to the very last pick (the Commish to the Leafs). In between those picks, new GMs were introduced, new jerseys were introduced and a lot of fun was had by all.

As well, players graciously brought in donations for Gillian's Place, a St. Catharines woman's shelter. There were enough donations for 2 car loads. Thank you very much for your generosity.

Here are some pics of the draft bbq:

2010 GHL Draft BBQ
You do not want to miss this!

Date: Sunday August 29, 2010
Time: 1:00 pm – 4:00 ish
Location: Sportsplex Virgil Arena (Pavilion)

This is one of the highlights of the GHL season. Bring your family out for a free BBQ while you wait in anticipation to see which team will draft you. The draft is conducted just like a professional draft - actually more fun!  Each player will be called up, presented with a jersey and socks and photographed with their new GM. Be sure to arrive early and schmooze with the GMs of your favourite team and meet some potential teammates.

**Note** In exchange for the free BBQ, we are collecting donations for Gillian's Place. You can find a wish list on the events page.

by posted 08/18/2010

The 2010/11 rookie class took to the ice for the first time on Tuesday August 17th in hopes of showing off their skills to all of the GMs of the league. Twenty-six new players took part, many of them for the first time ever skating with hockey equipment. The GMs will now be looking over their notes and figuring out which players they will be drafting on Aug 29th.

Here is a sampling of some of the action:
