Welcome to GHLNiagara

The GHL is Niagara's original co-ed non-contact beginner hockey league. This league was created for adults who have little or no childhood hockey experience. We have two seasons per year:

September > March: Saturdays in Virgil (26 Games)

May > August: Fridays in St. Catharines (13 Games)

The GHL has over 250 members and provides a fantastic hockey experience, complete with GMs, captains, coaches, referees, scorekeepers, and one amazing, friendly atmosphere.

Tabitha Wilson (Wings) - The Wings’ first MVP of the season is one of our rookies, Tabitha Wilson! She played her position of left wing with such ferocity. Tabitha was always chasing the puck and was not afraid of digging in and snatching it away from the other team. Great game Tabitha! Let’s go Wings!!

3

Tania Wedge (Bruins) - Taking a nod from Bobby Orr, one of the greatest Bruins of all time, Tania scored her first ever GHL goal with style and grace. She is our week one Bruins MVP. Congrats Tania on a well-played game!!

2

Manon Brochu (Sabres) - Playing in her very 1st GHL game, Manon netted the game winning goal!! Afterwards she received a standing ovation at Silks and celebrated the goal and victory with all her new teammates!

1

Jon Boudreau (Canucks) - Our MVP this week is Jon Boudreau! Jon was on fire this week, putting the Canucks on the board with a slick deflection as well as creating several other solid scoring chances! Great game Jon!

0

Paul Langley (Ducks) - With cat like reflexes and ninja like agility, Paulie put on a goal tending clinic!

1

Jimmy Wallace (Sharks) – Jimmy did a fantastic job in his first ever GHL winter game, leading us to victory with a shutout. It was almost as if he was part man and part machine the way he kept battling to keep the puck out of the net. The Ducks were relentless with their shots on net, but Jimmy kept fighting down to the very last minute securing the shut out. Congratulations, not only to Jimmy but to every single Shark for playing a fantastic game.

2

Siobhan Daniels (Rangers) - What a great week for our Rangers. We had one exceptional standout this week, with her outstanding play and her First ever GHL Goal! Congratulations Siobhan Daniels on receiving the well-deserved Ranger Danger Hat and GHL Puck!!

3

Johnny UK (Leafs) – Johnny led the team with his infectious style. Took on the role of centre and ran with it. Scoring a big goal and taking the Leafs first MVP for the season.

1

Ivan Lubberts(Canadiens) - Ivan might not be wearing his favourite team jersey this season, but that's not stopping his determination on the ice. Ivan snagged a sweet goal late in the third and earned himself this week's MVP!

Steph Humphrey (Hawks) - In her first ever GHL game (not to mention 6 months postpartum!), Steph showed pep in her step and an awesome eagerness on the ice. Potting the first goal of the game was just icing on the cake! Steph, we can already tell you will fit perfectly in this league and the Hawks are so happy to have you!

Julia Pentesco (Flames) - After missing a wide-open net in the 2ndperiod, Julia redeemed herself with a nice finish in the final frame to bring the Flames to within 1 of the pesky Oilers. Shout-out to Matty Higgins for making some great saves to keep the Flames in the game!

Jesse Richer (Oilers) - Jesse ensured that the Oilers got the season off to a fast start as the Oilers were able to extinguish the Flames in game 1. With great positioning, Jesse was able to score the game winning goal. Many great things are in store for the season ahead.
